It’s finally here - Wenzani launches today
Today we launch the public beta of Wenzani – the world’s free, easy-to-use mobile guide that helps you discover amazing experiences.
Wenzani is the first app of its kind that allows users to tap into leading content from multiple expert sources like Lonely Planet, Time Out, BBC Travel, Eyewitness Guides, Frommer’s Travel and others and combine it with socially-curated recommendations to create a personalized guide like no other. It’s ideal for locals who want to get to know their cities better as well as for travelers seeking authentic experiences everywhere they go - Wenzani has great recommendations in just about every corner of the globe.
How many times do you find yourself out and about and wondering where the best places might be to eat, drink, hang out or hear some music? Or maybe, just a fun place to take the kids? Wenzani takes traditional expert advice (guides and listings) and steps it up by offering instantly updated information with relevant recommendations. It uses your location as well as a secret sauce algorithm to serve up places and events curted just for you. It also supplements the advice of experts with great picks from your friends and allows you to instantly share your experiences as they happen.
So what does Wenzani mean anyway? It’s actually a Zulu word that means ‘What are you doing?’ Wenzani wants to help you figure out what to do next. You can check out what the experts say or query your friends and compare notes.
We have inherited much of our DNA from Lonely Planet, one of the world’s most loved brands with a long-established reputation for trusted expertise in travel. However, to bring users the best mix of expert content, we’ve partnered with the finest guide publishers around the world, including Eyewitness Guides, TimeOut, Frommer’s Travel, W Cities and others. Although usually considered competitors, we have joined forces to do something unique and give our users the most comprehensive guide possible.
The public beta is the start of the journey for us and we welcome and encourage feedback from users on how to make Wenzani even better. We launch on iPhone with other devices coming soon.
